Academic Honor Code
Last updated: February 14, 2025
1. Mission & Scope
The Study Share LLC Honor Code explains how we expect students, educators, and guardians to use the platform. It applies to every feature, including voice mode, chat summary, AI explanations, and image processing capabilities.
By continuing to use Study Share you agree to uphold these standards in addition to your school or testing organization’s academic honesty policies.
2. Study Honestly
- Use Study Share to understand concepts, not to obtain graded answers.
- Never request or distribute current exam keys, proctored assessments, or instructor-only materials.
- Credit your sources and peers when referencing their work.
- Follow test-day policies when reviewing past questions - our tools are for practice only.
3. Voice Mode Responsibilities
Voice mode exists to keep your eyes on the problem, not to hide misconduct:
- Speech is converted to text and stored only as chat summary turns. Audio is never saved or replayed by default.
- Chat summaries are timestamped, English-only, and automatically remove filler words so moderators can review transcripts quickly.
- You must not read exam content aloud during a live assessment or allow others to dictate answers through voice mode.
- Clear chat summaries or disable the microphone if you do not want a study session recorded in text form.
4. AI Guidance & Chat Summary
- Treat AI hints as learning aids. Do not submit them as final answers unless your teacher explicitly allows it.
- Do not prompt Study Share AI to generate harassment, disallowed exam content, or code of conduct violations.
- Chat summary transcripts are retained for up to 30 days to help you review or appeal an enforcement decision.
5. Academic Integrity in AI Interactions
- Use AI features to enhance your learning, not to bypass academic requirements.
- When citing study materials or solutions, credit your sources appropriately.
- Do not use AI-generated content as your own work without proper attribution or teacher permission.
- Our AI can process images and provide explanations - use this responsibly and in accordance with your school's policies.
6. Collaboration vs. Cheating
Collaboration is encouraged, but the following behaviors are prohibited:
- Submitting another person’s work as your own.
- Allowing someone else to log into your account to complete tasks for you.
- Sharing answers or hints during a timed, closed-book assessment.
7. Enforcement & Retention
Study Share LLC may respond to Honor Code violations in several ways:
- Issue warnings or require you to re-complete onboarding modules.
- Disable voice mode or pause AI access.
- Remove offending content or delete your account entirely.
We retain moderation logs, relevant chat summary transcripts, and supporting metadata for up to 24 months. Our database, hosting, AI inference, and analytics service providers help us enforce these rules under strict contractual safeguards.
8. Reporting & Appeals
- Report suspected violations via in-app flags or email team@studyshare.app with supporting evidence (links, screenshots, chat summary excerpts).
- Appeals must be submitted within 14 days of an enforcement notice and should explain why the initial decision was incorrect.
- We respond to good-faith reports and appeals within 5 business days whenever possible.
9. Questions & Updates
Study Share LLC may update this Honor Code as our services evolve. We will update the “Last updated” date and notify users of material changes.
Questions can be sent to team@studyshare.app or through the Help Center.
